At Ventura, we’re proud to connect communities every day. But some of the most meaningful connections happen within our own team.
For Damian, Mel and their daughter Rebekah, Ventura has become part of their family story – a place where each of them has found their own opportunity, built their career and shared the experience along the way.
It started with Damian
Damian joined Ventura eight and a half years ago and today works as a Charter Bus Driver, taking passengers to destinations and events across Victoria and beyond.
It was a career he enjoyed and a workplace he believed in, so when an opportunity came up a year later, he encouraged his wife Mel to give bus driving a go too.
“It is a good place to work, a great career opportunity and Mel has done really well out of it.”
That recommendation started a new chapter for Mel and, years later, would help bring another member of the family to Ventura.
From bus driver to Operations Supervisor
Mel joined Ventura as a Bus Driver, but soon found there were opportunities to grow within the business.
She took the next step into operations and today works as an Operations Supervisor, a role that has allowed her to challenge herself, develop new skills and take her career in a new direction.
“I love the challenge and the opportunity Ventura gave me.”
It’s a career journey that can be seen right across Ventura. People join us in one role and, as their skills and interests develop, find opportunities to move into something new.
Whether it’s behind the wheel, in operations, the workshop, administration or one of the many teams supporting our network, there’s no single path to building a career at Ventura.
Now, the next generation
More recently, Damian’s daughter Rebekah joined the Ventura team as an Operations Administrator, adding another chapter to the family’s story.
While she may share a workplace with her parents, Rebekah is building her own experience and meeting people from right across the business.
“I love working at Ventura and meeting all the new people from different places.”
That’s something we’re particularly proud of. Ventura’s workforce represents people from 59 different countries, bringing together different cultures, backgrounds and experiences every day.
For Rebekah, joining Ventura has also given her a new appreciation for something much closer to home.
“Working with my parents has brought me a lot closer to them and allowed me to learn what they do every day.”

A proud family legacy with opportunities to grow
For 100 years, Ventura was a family-owned business, and that strong sense of family, connection and looking after our people remains part of the culture we’ve built today.
Damian found a steady career he enjoyed enough to recommend Ventura to his wife. Mel took that opportunity and built a career of her own, progressing from bus driver to Operations Supervisor. Now Rebekah is beginning her own journey with Ventura.
Their story shows that a career can be about much more than where you work. It’s about the people you meet, the opportunities you’re given and finding a place where you can build something for the future.
For Damian, Mel and Rebekah, Ventura has become part of their family story. For someone else, it could be the beginning of theirs.
